Which Choice Are You Making… Slavery or Freedom?

Posted · Add Comment

I came across a phenomenal piece of wisdom recently.

The kind that stops you in your tracks.

The kind that has you astonished at how an observation made thousands of years ago could be so pertinent to our situation today, only to then realise the greater implication of how it reveals how little progress we’ve made.

The quote was shared during one of numerous ongoing debates between members of my Entrepreneurial Mastery Inner Circle.

As I now share it with you, think about its implication on you, your family and your entrepreneurial dreams.

“In a country well governed, poverty is something to be ashamed of.  In a country badly governed, wealth is something to be ashamed of.”

– Confucius

Ring any bells?

On the day Brexit became a reality, I released an email titled “The Only Vote that Matters”.  The message was simple; vote for yourself and claim sovereignty in your entrepreneurial life by not allowing external influences to govern and shape how you think, feel and act into it.

“Easier said than done” one might say.

Not really.  Not at all.  I’m surrounded by business owners who live this way. Granted, they’re a rare breed and not typical of most – but don’t be fooled into thinking they’ve got special attributes you or others haven’t.

What differentiates these individuals isn’t talent, money, a better education, specialised knowledge, “luck” or any other unsubstantiated assumption the hard-of-thinking claim to avoid facing the reality of their own shortcomings, what does differentiate them is one simple word.

Choice.

Wealth is a choice.  Poverty is a choice.  Sovereignty’s a choice.  Victimhood’s a choice.

What choice is showing up in your results?

And what choice do you choose to make moving forward?

Because make no mistake, you’re always making the choice.

There’s good and bad news.  The bad news is you’re a creative being.  You create every result you experience in your life, whether you’re aware of it or not.  Most of us are not…which is why we apportion blame to external influences when results don’t show up as we’d like them to.  As a creative being, if you choose to remain as you are – and choose not to make the only vote that matters – you’ll keep creating as you are…and continue to generate results you’re not satisfied with.

That’s slavery.

The good news is you’re a creative being.  You create every result you experience in your life, whether you’re aware of it or not. You have the ability to increase your awareness, to become more conscious in the act of creation and stop the cycle of thinking in reverse – to no longer allow external influences like your existing conditions and circumstances, the media, unsubstantiated opinion, self-serving politicians and the vote of an nation to shape your internal world, orchestrate your decision making abilities and undermine your success.

That’s freedom.

So which is it to be in your life?

Will you continue to be unconsciously incarcerated to a life less lived – the well-trodden path to constant struggle (or at best the underwhelming underachievement of comfortable mediocrity), or will you choose to liberate yourself from the bondage of mass consciousness by taking full responsibility and control of your entrepreneurial destiny… to be the fully conscious architect of your results?

Here’s how the choice for freedom – the ultimate objective of the entrepreneurial dream – shows up in your life; it’s not found in words of good intentions, it’s revealed in uncommon decisions and investments.

George Washington Carver was born into slavery in Missouri in the mid-19th century. I can’t imagine anyone more qualified to comment on what bridges the gap between slavery and freedom.  His form of slavery maybe different to the one I’m referring to, but the principle remains the same.

His insight?

“Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom”.

That’s why “The 7 Fundamental Pillars of Entrepreneurial Education” are so important.  They represent the strategic blueprint for success we never had.  They bring clarity to the unique educational path leading to extraordinary entrepreneurial success.  They provide the ultimate strategic road map for ultra-effective 80/20 application.

Here’s the 7 Pillars:

1: Self Education

2: Proximity & Modelling

3: Direct Response Marketing

4: Sales

5: Financial Education

6: Coaching for Performance

7: Self-Removal

I strongly encourage you to reflect on this message and what it reveals to you about the choice you’re making in your entrepreneurial life.
