Is “Sovereignty” A Reality In Your Business?

Posted · Add Comment

I’m the “Marmite kid”.

If you’re not from Britain, you might not know what Marmite is. So, in the name of bringing great enlightenment to your life today, I’ll explain.

Marmite is a yeast extract, a by-product of beer brewing. It’s an unbelievably sticky, almost black food paste with a distinctive, powerful, salty flavour.

To some it’s delightful. To others, it’s nothing short of horrific.

We Brits refer to something (or someone) as being “like Marmite” if they’re great polarisers – in other words, you either love “it” (or them) or can’t stand “it” (or them).

In other words, there’s rarely any middle ground.

I’m a polariser. It doesn’t come with any difficulty to me. I’m a very black-and-white kind of fella. Ambiguity only exists in my life where I’m willfully uneducated and ignorant. Elsewhere, I’m unequivocal.

This, of course, has its advantages and disadvantages. The Law of Polarity makes it so.

In business, it’s enormously advantageous. Freedom begins in the mind, long before it’s lived in the flesh. And freedom in entrepreneurial life begins by ruling your “roost” as you deem fit, not based on “norms”, conformity, or what other people tell you you should be doing.

The world’s full of ignorants fuelled by an ego fed from insecurities itching to give you an unsolicited opinion. And what they’re not willing to own in themselves they project onto others. I’ve had some stellar examples across the years.

Being a polariser is very good for business. For a start, before I elaborate on why, history proves the point. All of the great leaders and influencers were polarisers.

Take Jesus Christ and Hitler for example; two polarising figures at, ironically, the opposite end of the consciousness scale.

We all know billions despised Hitler and his actions. But as much as it might seem absurd to you and I, many millions loved him and were willing to lay down their lives for his cause.

We all know millions love Christ. But many despised him and his message, so much so they crucified the man (and the ignorant continue to crucify the enlightened today, they just don’t use nails, spears and crosses to do it anymore).

So how’s this relevant to you, your business, your income, your wealth, your quality of life, your family and your future prosperity?

Oh, I can assure you, it’s far more relevant than you imagine.

Because unless you’re willing to polarise – which takes “growing a pair” and becoming increasingly resilient to the irrelevant and unsubstantiated opinions of others – you’ll never make sovereignty a reality in your business.

That would be great shame, because sovereignty is where freedom and wealth is.

There’s scant consolation in making up the numbers. There’s little reward in being just another “vanilla flavoured” business owner either. No one set their world alight by being a small fish in a giant pond, trying to please all ‘n’ sundry in the hope of attracting some business.

No, if you’re going to stand above the crowd, you’ve got to stand out of it first.

You’ve got to stand for something.

In case you need reminding, sovereignty is running your business like you’d run your own kingdom; doing what you choose, when you choose, with whom you choose, at the price you choose, only if you choose to do it at all.

In other words, answering to no one but yourself.

That’s entrepreneurial freedom, right there. That’s what liberty looks like in entrepreneurial life. And all you have to do to have it, is to no longer be willing to conform to the incarcerating “norms” you’ve been programmed to follow.

I don’t follow “norms”. I don’t conform to the so-called “rules” either. Certainly not the “rules” some people think I should adhere to. I’ve seen where the rules of conformity and “norms” take you and it stinks.

I’m not suggesting you go about your business as I go about mine – I’m not so arrogant to even suggest it (and I’d be no better than the idiotic folk who think it’s their God-given right to tell me how I should go about mine) – I’m offering it up in the spirit of encouraging some creative, profitable thinking on your part in terms of what sovereignty and polarisation, looks like for you.
